Hello there,

I don't know if anyone can help me. Indeed I may be experiencing a bit of finger trouble here but...

I'm an apple virgin and I've just bought myself a 32gb iPad mini wifi. I have also bought it a bluetooth keyboard. I cannot, for the life of me, get them to talk to each other.

I turn on the keyboard and press the button to get it to send a cyber wave to my ipad.

I turn on my iPad and it looks for and, usually, finds the keyboard. I click on the name of the keyboard on ipad.

OK, two times, it's asked me to type a number into the keyboard which I've done.

The iPad then said it was taking too long to pair and dumped the keyboard.

Now, if I can get it to 'see' the keyboard at all, it tells me it's taking too long to connect without even asking for the number.

OK, so, because it's the nearest blue tooth enabled thing, I paired the iPad with my PC and yes, it worked! So, I know the blue tooth is working, even though once paired they did the cyber equivilent of looking at each other and going 'uh?' Edited to add: I knew they would do this, I just wanted to know if it was capable of pairing and connecting with another device. It is.

My thoughts...

The first thing the iPad did, when I switched it on, was update it's operating system. Have I just rendered my brand new keyboard obsolete, d'you think? If so, will a reset send it back to the original OS - I'm thinking once paired and saved, if I upgrade the OS it might not affect it.

Or, is there a way I can persuade my iPad to be more patient?

Any help would be just peachy.

Cheers

MTM
